Judah's 3!

Jude's Hootenanny Party

We threw Judah a "Hootenanny" party this year for his birthday. A Hootenanny is a party in which a group of people get together to sing and dance and make music together. Judah loves music, so it was a perfect way to celebrate for him.

Ready to run the 10K in Kampala

Kalika, Falan & Rhoda
Can you spot us?
How about now?
We met up with our friends, Spencer & Emily, and ran with them as well. Spencer pushed their son, Adam, in his stroller for the entire race. The spectators got a huge thrill out of seeing a "muzungu" (white) baby participating. Some of the runners were motivated to pass Spencer, saying things like, "I will not be defeated by a baby!"
We made it!

Time for school!

The boys started preschool this month and are loving it!

Kalika's here!

Kalika Peske, a friend from the States, arrived early November and will be staying with us for 6 months, primarily to help with the kids as Rhoda begins home schooling. We're all happy to have her here!

A visit to the orphanage

We were told this little guy is 2 years old, but he didn't seem much bigger than our Hannah (7 months old). He was brought to the orphanage 1 month ago severely malnourished and sick. The staff said he looks great now compared to when he came. His tummy may be full, but his love tank sure isn't. I (Rhoda) picked him up & held him for the entire visit. Every time another kid came asking to be held, this little boy cried and hit them on the head. He clung to me, turning his face up hungrily each time I kissed him. A kid can have all the food he needs, but if he doesn't have love and attention, he'll starve.
