The Nile

We recently enjoyed a wonderful visit from our friend Glenn. We took him on a boat ride and saw the Source of the Nile, as well as many varieties of birds and a few otters. No monkeys this time.

Thankful for friends...

Our nightwatchman, Bosco, has been with us now for almost 3 years. We are so thankful for his faithfulness and for the friendship of his family. This is his wife, Sara, and sons, Brian and Opio.

Old friends

Our old neighbor, Prossy and her children, Shama and Mercy, came to play this week. The kids used to play together by our fence most every day - they were very happy to be reunited.

A puddle-jumping day

This was the first rain we had after several weeks of dry, blistering hot days. Hannah wasn't quite sure what she thought about venturing out in it...
...but a little encouragement from big brother convinced her.

New friends

A few of our neighbors stopped by for a visit one evening - Nadia and her mom, Salama. Nadia and our kids have become fast friends, spending a lot of time together in the last weeks. We were sad to see her leave for boarding school this past weekend. She will only come home every 3 or 4 months for breaks.

Making naan bread

There are many families living in Jinja from India, most of them owning and running supermarkets, restaurants and hotels in town. Thus Indian food is available and known here amongst the locals. Naan bread is one favorite at their restaurants. We found a recipe and have enjoyed making it at home. Elijah is rolling them all out for me here so that I can fry them. They never last long, especially with two little snackers sitting nearby ready to sample.
The kitchen in our new place is my (Rhoda) favorite room in the house. I have a lot more cupboard space, which is wonderful for me and also for Hannah, who gets her very own cupboard so that she can keep busy too while I am cooking.
